Overview
About Me
My wife and I and our four kids are circumnavigating the world on our St Francis 50 catamaran. We've rented our house in Ottawa Canada, given away our things, and gone sailing and homeschooling. Check out our sailing blog at www.aphrodite.cat.
The sailing guru Jimmy Cornell told us that not a day that goes by, no matter where he is in the world, that he does not have a "substantive conversation" with his now grown children. He entirely attributes this to the years they spent sailing as a family. Seems like a good life for our family with four kids.
Come sail with us. We have a spare cabin and welcome visitors. The only caveat is that you share those ideas you are passionate about with our kids.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We have the space available and we enjoy having guests from time to time. My wife and I also visit "the mainland" from time to time and it's nice to meet new people who know the lay of the land.
Interests
Our family has been sailing since September 2015. We've seen amazing places that you could not possibly see except from a boat; (Hogsty Reef in the Bahamas, for example). Before we left to go sailing I was, and still am, a software entrepreneur. I have founded and sold three software companies. The most recent company I built was www.recognia.com, which was sold to Trading Central in late 2014.

Music, Movies, and Books
Well, at present I'm reading a lot about homeschooling, sailing, weather and boat maintenance. I'm learning to service diesel engines and fix water-makers.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been lucky. I flew several times on NASA's KC-135 vomit comet back when I worked in the space industry and thought I wanted to be an astronaut. I biked from Quito Ecuador to Lima Peru and then hiked the Inca Trail. I have good friends in Greece so I was fortunate to visit the islands and stay with their families. My wife and I cycled the US Pacific coast from Victoria BC to San Diego. Now my wife and I are enjoying sailing around the world with our kids; Betty age 10, Paul age 8 and twins, Karen and Henry, age 5. Please visit our sailing blog at www.aphrodite.cat.
Teach, Learn, Share
Learn some sailing, teach something to our kids, swim off the back of the catamaran with dolphins, explore a deserted Caribbean island...
