ABOUT ME

In 1989, I signed up for a Mandarin course in China. After its completion, I planned to work as a journalist in Hong Kong (I have connections from both sides of my family there), and to move on to politically-motivated documentaries eventually. Events in Tiananmen Square that summer changed everything...

I took a film course in Scotland instead, landed a job at the Canadian Film Centre soon afterwards, and started producing dramatic movies. Almost 20 years later, I'm wondering why I haven't played more music, seen more of the world, made documentary films and joined Amnesty International.

All of which I intend to do now...
