About Me

Wow, it's been quite a journey these last 6-7 years. I left my career as a dentist, wound up living in Rome, and now I have a two year-old daughter who is the love of my life. She already speaks better Italian than me... or at least her accent is better.

I'm currently freelance writing/blogging while building my own brands in the Italy Travel sector, as well as a new venture where I teach writing to bloggers and blogging to writers. :) It's actually surprising how big of a gap exists between these two seemingly related skills.

I like difficult novels, red wine, and long distance running. Oh, and traveling, even if I have barely moved from my own apartment in about six months.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For now I just want to meet other like-minded travelers and share ideas, experiences, etc. I'll be heading out on the road again soon in Italy, and so I might be looking for a couch here and there.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've have done a little hosting and have also been hosted. Additionally I have enjoyed participating in meetings, social events, and other "couch related" activities. I'll leave it at that.

Interests

My main "interest" at the moment is being the best father possible to my little bambina. It's such a difficult balance; I want her to explore the world, and yet I want to protect her at the same time. Why didn't anybody tell about this contradiction before?

Other than that, of course I enjoy experiencing new cultures through any means available; books, classes, Internet, film--but most of all, travel. And sometimes my favorite part about traveling is writing about my trips once I've returned home and had some time to reflect.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once sawed a human head in half. OK, it was in the anatomy lab my first year of post-grad school, but still... sounds kind of weird to say it.

Other than that, I've learned a new language, completed a marathon, and changed careers at the age of 45. Oh, and I have already mentioned my daughter? She is without a doubt the most amazing thing in my life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Oh, the stories I could tell....

Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Spain, United Kingdom
