Über mich
Hi there,
I'm Rico and I'm interested in way too many things and always a bit puzzled about how many awesome things there are to do in life ... because - time is short and there are just way too many things to learn, discover, understand, taste and experience. Ars longa, vita brevis.
Born in Berlin, I lived most of the time a bit out of town in a small city called Hohen Neuendorf, where I also went to school. That's where I grew up and where I return to between traveling adventures.
I've had my fair share of adventures already but curious to experience more things: I snorkeled with wild whale sharks, spent days on a remote island in Indonesia, with only a couple of friends, hiked 650km across the Alps from Munich to Venice with my best friend, hitchhiked on sail boats across the Atlantic Ocean from Morocco to Guadeloupe. And some more ^^ But you will have to meet me one day in order to tell my stories haha :)
I love to do sports (especially parkour, volleyball and basketball ... and nearly every other ball sport out there). I also enjoy cooking, programing, reading, photography, painting (with acrylics). Often I spend time on YT watching science videos and lectures on MIT OCW. Currently I am on a sabbatical from my Software Engineering job, just traveling as much as I can.
The biggest satisfaction in life for me is to learn or understand something new or solve a problem after hours of troubleshooting. It just feels great.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
I have traveled around the world on a budget between the end of school and the start of university and that's where I truly learned what Couchsurfing is about. Once I'll live in my own place I want to make the world come to my home too, but for now I am traveling and love to meet unique people because of this platform.
It is just beautiful to see how CS connects people from all over the world, creating one of the most awesome communities, ever. Couchsurfing for me is a way to experience another country from the perspectives of some of the most friendly people in this world and make friends, sometimes for life.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
It says one thing which makes it hard to choose... aaaah!!! But here goes:
When I was 19, I drove a tuk tuk 3500 kilometres through rural India with a good friend of mine. We both had no prior driving experience and almost no money but enjoyed the time of our lives.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
Teach: German, Web Development (if you have some time ^^), Why AI is going to change the world soon
Learn: (hopefully) a lot
Share: Stories, self-cooked meals, conversations and hopefully a great time
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
A nice meal and good in depth conversations about science/philosophy/engineering... Or travel stories. Choose what you like :)
