About Me

Hi there 👋.

So a little about me is that I’m 22 year old male born and raised in Jakarta. I have recently finished my degree in filmmaking and have been working as a freelance script writer, mainly for films, but also does commercial and web series now and then.

I considered myself pretty open, or at least trying to be open, to new things, for these last few years I haven’t experienced significant growth in terms of perspective and just as a person, generally. And I think it has affected my writing a little bit.

That’s why I’m here. I figured if I wanted to be able to grow as a person, one must simply try to see things from different perspective. And what better way is there than to see it from a stranger’s pov?

I don’t smoke, rarely go out, a tad bit workaholic, and overthinker. But if you got a story to tell, my ears are entirely yours.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m eager to connect with people around the world. I believe if you still have the same perspective or insight as you used to before, then you are never evolve, and as a person, you always need to grow. That’s why I’m here.

Interests

I have a particular interest on noodles. I don’t know why. Also dumplings. Basically any Chinese food will do just fine in my mouth.

I also like to spend my time exploring or getting to know the city. I’m into culinary exploration, finding hidden gems in the cities, gardening and farming (this is something that I haven’t got the chance to doc so it’s always a dream), music festival, art exhibitions, museums, and public discussion. However, I’d trade all of it for a simple, intimate night out with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical taste ranges from Fiona Apple to Naif (Indonesian local band), but I’m always open to new sounds. Lately, I’ve been listening to Mitski and Bam Mastro on repeat

Same thing goes for movie, I’m a bit of a cinephile so really put any movie in front of me and I’d watch it ‘till the end. My current favorites are The Farewell (by Lulu Wang), I Am Love (by Luca Guadagnino), Incendiés (by Villenueve), and Pride & Prejudice (by Joe Wright). Also, almost everything A24 released, I’m immediately hooked.

I’m also into series like The Little Drummer Girl, Fargo (by Noah Hawley), Fleabag (I can watch this on repeat), and recently just started on HBO’s Succession and so far it’s been a blast.

For books, my current favorites are A Little Life by Yanagihara, Catcher in the Rye by Salinger, Charles Bukowski’s You Get So Alone at Times That It Just Make Sense, and Eka Kurniawan’s Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas. A must read!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve been very fortunate to be involved in some movie projects in the past.

I was involved in the script development of Aruna & Her Palate (2017) and later on with the final trilogy of Dilan, entitled Milan: Suara dari Dilan.

Teach, Learn, Share

I say I’m pretty used to the way around here in Jakarta. So if we got to hangout, that’s probably what I share, but again I’m here to be a listener, to learn. I can share my ears if you ever need one.

I’m also into filmmaking, particularly on writing departments. So if you are into film discussion, hit me up.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’m not a snob, but I have a pretty amazing taste in music and film which you can only enjoy once we’re friends 😏

Countries I’ve Visited

Hong Kong, Singapore
