Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm going, together with my two friends, on my very first backpack trip to Ukraine and as we plan to couchsurf there, it would be nice and polite to let my profile also be seen to hosts like others do :)
And I've been hosting people for couple of times (though via my girlfriend's profile) and I had real nice time with these couchsurfers (they're my friends now).

Interests

My biggest hobby - collecting and restoring antique sound equipment (especially reel to reel tape recorders). Parallel with that also old kind of music tapes, vinyl records etc...
Also I love to study the history of disco... And history of sound recording.
Playing saxophone and clarinet in folk band, orchestra and big band. And if needed some keyboards too.
I grew up in music and always had serious relationship with it.
What else... Oh yes Classic& antique cars!!! Especially the Soviet car manufacturing and it's history. I also own one like this (1962 Moskvich 407) :P

Music, Movies, and Books

This is has always been The hard question... Though I've read many books in my life I can't point out any particular. The same goes to favourite bands and movies. Why? Because person changes all the time and I am not the same person that I was let's say a year ago. So naturally in parallel the stuff that accosts me, also changes. Maybe the movie that I find super good today wouldn't interest me 2 years ago.
With music it is even more complicated. I've never been a fan of one certain style or period (except the 60s-70s disco. this is YEAH!). I've always had favourites among many different styles and ages. And I love it. One moment I might want to listen to Bach's Passacaglia (my favourite art piece from this man!) and next moment some dubstep track of Benga. And doing this I can be very satisfied.
But of course! If YOU, my future host, could introduce me some pop music of your country, I would be very excited! And would also like to know where to buy vinyls in your town :p

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Salvaged a huge lot of reel to reel tapes from Estonian TV and radio archive from throwing away. Imagine 7 older kind of Ford Mondeo Wagons. Now imagine all of these cars full of boxes filled with tapes :).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can help you making food (specially the omelettes), fix something (in case the problem is not too complicated): electric device, car, musical instrument, especially your Reel to reel recorder or a LP player).
