ABOUT ME

Riina: My friends would describe me as artistic, funny, and caring. They would say that I am always cheerful, that I am creative, and that I want everyone to enjoy themselves when they are with me. They would say that I am thoughtful, quiet, intuitive, and honest. I genuinely care about people.

Arielle: My role models are Vincent van Gogh and Willy Wonka. I love to write and appreciate the beauty all around me. I love to laugh and don't take life too seriously.

PHILOSOPHY

I have many philosophies. I believe there is value in everything. I believe in frugality and being a good steward with the things you have. I believe happiness is found outside yourself. I believe the world is full of beauty if you take time to see it. I believe love is a choice. I believe everyone has a story of his or her own. I believe we are shaped by our experiences, and how we react to adversity is what proves our character. I believe in a loving God who created the universe, and I want to do everything I do for His glory.

Interests

I am an artist. I find beauty in the most everyday kinds of things. I spend a lot of time drawing and creating art. I love adventure and can find adventure very close to where I live. I am very imaginative, and things that grab my attention are good books, curiosity shops, new places and people, and the beauty of nature. I find my life becomes more engaging when I go out looking for new experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Riina: I love punk-rock, indie rock, and classic rock. I also enjoy listening to folk-music, like Mumford and Sons. My favorite books are A Wind in the Door, The Young Unicorns, and Meet the Austins by Madeleine L'Engle, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, and The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.

Arielle: I love A Clockwork Orange, and Aldous Huxley novel, mainly I just enjoy reading. My favorite band is Röyksopp, but I'm eclectic in my tastes, so I enjoy just about anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Riina: The first time I took the bus downtown by myself, I was definitely at my most attentive. I had never noticed how the skyscrapers of Minneapolis were so beautifully backlit by the sun. Hopping from one bus to another, I noticed how no one really interacted with each other, but anyone I asked for directions was very friendly towards me and willing to help. I don't think I'd ever been so nervous as I was then, unsure of what I was doing and only hoping I would reach my destination. The trip went well, of course, and now it's one of the most fun things I do. It struck me that first day that everyone around me had a story of their own.

Arielle: took a harbor cruise in Odessa, Ukraine at sunset- it was really spectacular. Saw a field of sunflowers outside the city of Assisi in Italy.
