About Me
My background’s a bit of a patchwork: I’ve lived in Uganda and Nepal, co-founded a volunteer organisation, and studied anthropology to better understand how people grow — in classrooms, communities and across cultures.
I was 16 when I learned the rhythm of silence in a French monastery, 19 when I circled with eagles while paragliding in Nepal, and 23 when I somehow ended up working as a bar singer in Uganda. At 28 I was caught by the heat of the Burner culture and by the age of 34 I called Barcelona my second home.
These days, I’m mostly a teacher, full-time single mum and partly adventurer.
Our home is full of second-hand books, weird instruments, friends and big feelings. Luna is calm, crafty and strong (physically and otherwise). Charlie is energy and empathy rolled into one, always filming, experimenting or figuring something out. Together, we’re a solid team — respectful, low-maintenance, and quite good at doing the dishes.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Sometimes the best part of travelling is finding a kitchen to chop veggies in, a sofa to read on, or someone who’ll share their favourite local pastry. We’re not looking for luxury, we’re looking for stories, shared meals, local secrets, and the places that don’t make it into guidebooks.
After a few tough years (I’ve been recovering from serious illness, including cancer), we’re going Interrailing this summer — a celebration of being alive, being together, and moving again. But I also know my limits: some nights I’ll be up for a deep chat, other days I may need to recharge and rest my bones. If you have a calm corner or a warm kettle, we’ll be deeply grateful.
Between 14 July and 10 August, we plan to travel through Germany, Czechia, Slovenia, Italy, and Switzerland, but nothing is written in stone. We’re open to detours, invitations, and beautiful, strange surprises.
We’re used to travelling in all sorts of ways: living out of our car, hopping trains, camping at scout gatherings and Burns. With just one income, I’ve had to be creative about how I introduce the world to my children and for that, I’m deeply grateful for the gift Couchsurfing can be.
If you’d like to be part of our summer — whether for a shared meal, a place to sleep, or just a good story — we’d love to meet you.
