About Me

“You always get what you give!”

ABOUT ME

Yepp, I'm an Indian; I'm going to give you a few moments so that you can mentally browse through all the stereotypes you now have about India and Indians. The ‘Namaste’, the diverse culture and rich heritage, the chicken tikka and super spicy curry, India being a land of yoga and meditation, cricket being a religion in itself here, the many gods that Indians worship, Indians being geeky nerds in math and computers, ‘real India’ is dirty and chaotic, Gandhi being the epitome of peace-making . . . .

Done? Good, then, let's get on to knowing a bit about me as an individual :D

Firstly, thanks for viewing my profile :) My door is open to all without prejudice; young or old, black or white, gay or straight, but especially to all the inspiring and adventurous people who love to smile! I've been a member of couchsurfing for a while now, however because I’m based in a part of India which isn’t very touristy I’ve never really got a chance to host and use the forum much, but I look forward to hosting and being hosted by in the near future, and to also participate in the once in a blue moon CS meetup that happens in and around town.

I’m an entrepreneur in the pharmaceutical industry and handle a small scale manufacturing company with operations in India and looking to expand to various places across the globe. I’m an avid investor and invest small sums in the equity markets and a geek for anything related to investments and finance in general. I always get excited about discussing and hearing out new ideas/startups/ entrepreneurial opportunities anywhere across the globe. I strongly believe that access to quality education across socio-economic classes, geographies, genders, religions, is one the most important tools one can provide to any individual for the upliftment of the individual, the family, the immediate society and in turn the human race. Back in college, I worked in an NGO called Make A Difference (MaD) wherein I used to serve as a teacher on weekends trying to teach the less privileged kids English and Math. However, my real life, is the one lived on vacations, meeting and spending time with people from different cultures, geographies, from a completely different walk of life, exchanging stories about anything and everything. This excites me and makes me happy. The rest is fill in the blanks. What keeps me going is anticipating and planning the next trip.

I would describe myself as a non-conflicting guy who gets on well with many people. I am an open minded person with a positive view of the world, sometimes calm and sometimes ready to party. My views/philosophy about life, people, world are ever evolving. Apart from this, I love traveling, big cities, small villages, beaches, mountains, wine, single malts, hiking, untouched nature, new experiences, priceless memories, inspiring people, music, dancing, cars, art, photography, journaling, strong coffee and great conversations.

Okay, now let’s talk more in person please? :)

PHILOSOPHY

- Pay it forward!

- Every lie we tell incurs a debt to the truth. Sooner or later, that debt is paid.

- It doesn't matter where you come from, but where you're going.

- It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

- The biggest threat to our environment is the belief that someone else will save it.

- Live your dreams like there’s no tomorrow!

- You must be the change you wish to see in the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies/TV Shows : Too many to list down names, but some of the genre I like are suspense, thriller, action, sci-fi, drama, crime, adventure, rom-coms, documentaries, and then comedy being my favorite genre (I mean who doesn't like a good laugh? ). I don't particularly enjoy a horror movie but wouldn't mind watching one sometimes. Basically, get me a tub of popcorn and a coke and I can watch any Movie/TV show lol

Music : Okay, so I'm a big fan of all kinds of music, be it electronic dance music, soft rock, rock, indie, alternative, blues techno, hip hop, rap, house, jazz, etc. I love music recommendations and love listening to new artists all the time. I don't enjoy hard rock and metal music in particular.

Books : I don't read a lot of books but occasionally I love a nice inspiring novel/biography/autobiography/motivational book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Camped on a beautiful beach in South UK, slept under sky full of stars listening to waves crash against the shore. It was surreal.

- Went to a week long meditation course in Rishikesh, India. After this, I also went on and did a 11 day long Vipassana meditation course wherein during the entire duration of the course we were supposed to restrict all communication (even in the form of actions) with anyone around and follow a strict satvic diet and lifestyle.

- I'm not at all a religious person, but just to test my determination and perseverance, I fasted for 8 days surviving only on boiled drinking water which is to be consumed only from sunrise till sunset.

- I've marked a set percentage of my very small annual income (hopefully gets big enough someday :) ) to sponsor a year round education of a young less privileged kid in India, hoping that my small contribution leads to the kids better future.
