About Me

Hey! I'm Rishav, currently in my first year of MBA in the beautiful city of Toronto!

I enjoy classic rock, good coffee, geek humor, serious movies, theatre and love to follow sports.
I am creative with physics and have come to grasp with the finer details of maths and chemistry.
Children trust me.
I have directed three plays, and am not such a bad hand at the guitar too.
When I answer a question I answer it correctly, I'm patient with people who need more time. I'm a shoulder to cry on and a friend to rejoice with or fall back on.
I've rarely been ill but am a good patient.
Dogs always wag their tails when they see me.
I love my family.
I believe in working hard and partying even harder. Yeah!

PHILOSOPHY

I think I'm very open to new ideas and adjust well. I always like spontaneous plans, and can always be convinced to do something if you try hard enough. :P
I'm very outgoing, and I let music effect my mood. One of my dreams is to watch Kirk Hammett and Lars Ulrich live!

That's the difference between me and the rest of the world! Happiness isn't good enough for me! I demand euphoria!

-- Calvin, Calvin & Hobbes

You see, whenever I start feeling sad, I just stop being sad and be awesome instead. True Story!

-- Barney, How I Met Your Mother

You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.

-- Tyler Durden, Fight Club

Strangers are Just Friends Waiting to Happen!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to meet new people from different backgrounds and cultures and learn something from them.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had a lot of CS experiences during the last 3 months, during my trip to Europe, and all of them have been fastastic! I have met amazing people in Paris, Brussels, Roma, Barcelona, Milano and of course met lots of CSers visiting Cagliari, where I was interning. I even surfed 3 couches:

Chloe: Brussels
Giovanni: Roma
Rosella: Barcelona

Now I look forward to meeting more CSers visiting India, and am always open for a week-long Indian trip, since I am here for another year before travelling abroad again. I have also been fortunate enough to host a variety of CSers in India and found out a little bit more about my country with them. The experience has been in one word amazing.

Interests

I am a big classic rock fan, and am in love with Metallica, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Daft Punk, Nirvana and the Beatles. I can't do without my share of coffee every day, and the geek in me comes out when I'm reading PHD Comics or xkcd. I love playing tennis, and am an ardent dramatist. I used to have coins from 27 countries when I was 8. I enjoy going out pub-hopping or to a concert every now and then. I love serious movies and have seen 227 of IMDB's Top 250 list! I enjoy dancing a lot, but I really have two left feet when it comes to skills ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

I always enjoy serious movies, and think Pulp Fiction and Fight Club are two of the most culturally significant movies to-date. I've seen Braveheart about 15 times, and loved Good Will Hunting and A Beautiful Mind. My favourite directors are Kubrick, Scorcese, Eliz Kazan, Nolan, Tarantino and Woody Allen.

I love Classic Rock and 80s pop, been listening to a lot of Daft Punk and Porcupine Tree these days. I love Metallica, Floyd, Beatles, Nirvana, Sabbath, Led Zep among others. I rue the fact that I'll never see Lennon\Morrison\Cobain perform live!

I love reading non-fiction, and Steve Jobs' biography and A Brief History of Nearly Everything are two books I consider among my favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was right in the centre of the Orissa cyclone in India which took away 7000 lives, and have seen sights which I'll remember for the rest of my life there.

I would love to bungee-jump or do deep sea-diving. One of my dreams is to hike across the alps.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been teaching people how to play Tennis of late. I have directed a play before, and have some experience in theatre. I can also prepare some (half-decent!) Indian meals and teach you some Hindi! I'd love to learn a little bit of French or Spanish! As cliched as it sounds, I can teach you so yoga as well ;-)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm easy-going and willing to help around as much as possible! I would love to hang out with the host but in case you're busy, I'd be fine with exploring the city on my own.
