ABOUT ME

I am a nurse and an empty nester. As I have aged I am beginning to truly understand the brevity of life. I'm learning how important it is to reach out and grasp the moments.

PHILOSOPHY

I have done a lot of work with patients facing terminal illnesses and have experienced a lot of loss in my personal life. This has changed me to my core. Life truly is precious and sweet. It is so short, and we just don't know how much of it we've been given. I finally stopped "waiting to live" and became an active participant.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I finally got out of my shell and started traveling 7 years ago. I try to encourage others to travel as well. I try very hard not to be a tourist. My favorite part of traveling is talking with the people. That's really what it's all about. I am looking forward to meeting others while hosting and then in my own travels later this year. I really think life is about reaching out to others in this world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I signed up years ago and just never followed through. Work and raising kids kept me just too busy. This last year brought many personal changes for me. And though I have always liked the idea of couch surfing I feel that I'm finally actually ready to follow through!! I just started hosting, and so far it has been awesome. I also hope to use it in the fall when I am traveling.

Interests

I love to travel. I'm a late bloomer - took my first trip to Europe seven years ago. I've been to 8 countries so far, but all in Europe. I have plans to branch out later this year :) I love to read. I love people. They have such great stories to tell. I don't watch tv much. I do like movies though.

As I get older, I am more and more convinced that our mission in life is just to love each other. I like spreading that around in small, everyday ways.
