ABOUT ME

I'm creative and adventurous... friendly and shy... sarcastic and sincere... full of little stories just bubbling under the surface.

I tend to be a little off beat. I grew up in a city, but I enjoy nature... in moderation (I joke that a lack of sidewalks makes me nervous). I also enjoy reading, films, music, dancing and cooking (though seldom at the same time, a coordination issue really).
I like unique things and experiences... things that make you feel and make you think. I like to step out of the mundane and try to keep life interesting. I can be almost annoyingly optimistic and I have a goofy side that exposes itself more often than I think. Life is too short to be too serious, so do the things you enjoy.

I love to learn. I believe that if you're not learning, your dying. It's just such a big world and there's so much in it to experience. I want to elaborate on the tapestry of my life and make it rich and interesting.

I have been itching to travel for many, many years now... I kept telling myself "someday..." and now that's changing. I'm erasing the "someday" from my vocabulary... it just keeps things from happening. I'm trying to take more action and really have, see, and do the things I want to have, see and do.

Oh, and I'm taking tango lessons at the moment... I'm not at the level where I can dance with a rose in my teeth yet, but I'm getting there.

Keep an open mind. Be gentle with yourself and others. We are all connected in the grand scheme of things.

I've just started hosting and I'm hoping to get more involved with the local CS community.

I couchsurfed in Scotland (fantastic!) and I'm currently hosting my first CSer!

兴趣

Culture, Art, beautiful things, unusual things, food, dancing, new experiences. I want to travel without being a tourist (does that make sense?)... to experience the essence of a place and have a real sense of the area and the people.

I adore The Beatles, but my taste in music can be pretty eclectic (Matisyahu, Common, Gin Blossoms, Ani DiFranco, Regina Spektor, etc)

As far as movies go, there are way too many to list. Some favorites are Amelie, Eternal Sunshine, When Harry Met Sally, Juno, The Wedding Singer, Penelope, Starter for 10, Death at a Funeral, Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, early Woody Allen...

For books, I like a good fiction... and classics like Jane Austen. Some other good ones are The Lovely Bones, Perfume: The story of a Murderer, The Alchemist... I just finished Pillars of the Earth. It's an epic story centered around the building of a cathedral in 12th century England and the lives of some of the people involved and affected by it. A long read, but very very good!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I had an amazing time in Costa Rica on a trip in high school. We traveled all over the country... it was my first time in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans (I was blown away by the fact that sea water actually tastes salty). =) One of the most memorable things from that trip was a trail ride we did up to the top of a plateau where we watched the sunset... the trip back to the stable in the dark was quite the experience as well. There was just so much I had the opportunity to do and see (volcanos, a cloud forrest, hot springs...) I'm so grateful to have had these experiences.

Something to share... I've learned it's ok to be lost and it's ok to ask for help. I've also learned that acts of kindness and generosity can come from the most unexpected places at times.
