Hello!

I'm Riya. I'm from the States but right now I'm living and working in France as an English Teacher. I just finished uni back home and I plan on going to law school in the future when I get back!

I absolutely LOVE traveling and meeting new people. My new abroad so far has been amazing. I've met so many interesting people, seen so many interesting things and experienced many different cultures. I was born in India and I've all over Asia, so I've been fascinated by different cultures at a young age. I really do believe there is nothing that can change one's perspective and way of life than traveling and experiencing other cultures. It's all about getting out of your comfort zone and experiencing the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Like I said I love to immerse myself in different cultures and that's exactly why I'm on Couchsurfing. I think it's a great, safe way to meet locals and really experience a different country, rather than just sight-seeing. But don't get me wrong, that's important as well... but this is an additional perk to traveling! I love meeting new people and I hope to return all of these favors backs when I get back to the United States :) I've met so many nice and amazing people so far!

Interests

I LOVE LOVE LOVE TRAVELING! It's my absolute passion... I believe in wanderlust :)
I also love reading, watching a lot of TV (a very bad habit I'm trying to break haha), playing the piano, hanging out with my friends and my family. I absolutely love my family and miss them a lot more than I ever anticipated I would in my year abroad as far.
Sometimes I like to be an introvert and I need time to myself to recuperate. But most times, I'm a VERY SOCIAL person who likes to go out and meet new people~

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all sorts of music for the most part... I listen to lot of stuff you hear on the radio, but I also really love Alternative music, a lot of Pop, not a huge fan of rap or hip-pop.
My favorite books are The Great Gatsby and The Catcher In The Rye :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved to France after college graduation, knowing absolutely no one, and it's been the best decision I've ever made!!!!!
