About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To show our kids the world, one place at a time.

ABOUT ME

My wife (Valerie) and I met in Korea as ESL teachers, and have been adventuring here and there ever since. I have couchsurfed both as an individual, and together as a couple. Together we've been to a combined 60+ countries, love new experiences, trying new foods, seeing new sights, and beyond.

We took a break from adventuring to start a family and give "regular life", a shot. We have two kids now (a girl - 7, and a boy - 4), and our adventures have changed! We haven't couch surfed in a while (in order to figure out this whole parenting thing), but we're ready to get back in on the action! We love to travel and haven't stopped since our little ones, just slowed down. Both the children and my wife are fluent in French, being from a French-Canadian town in Ontario.

We're going on a few adventures this year and next, and we'd love to meet some locals along the way, experience off-the-beaten-track places, and share our experiences with fellow travelers. Anything outdoors, sports, music, culture-related is what we love! Adventure is what we crave, and the world is what we want to see!

PHILOSOPHY

Live each day as if it were your last. The world is a big place, but I try to make it as small as I can. If it was possible, I would never stop travelling, going to visit every little town in every country, doing my part to help others along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When we travel, we like to do things as the locals do, not just the "major" attractions. Sure, saving money is great, but it's really about the connections, and insights into what life is like wherever we are. Staying with people who are local makes the experience much more genuine, authentic, and exciting!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've stayed with people from Korea, Macau, Switzerland, Malaysia, and others, and have hosted a couple people when I was able to. Every experience has been amazing.

Interests

Travel, Sports, Music, Outdoors, Hiking, Mountains, Adventure. We love meeting new people and discovering new experiences. Nothing is too high, fast, far, dangerous, or exciting for us. We want to do it all and show our kids how big and beautiful the world really is.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pretty much anything, seriously. We can enjoy the old classic, the new blockbuster, and even the B movies that are terribly made. I grew up playing and writing music, and am trying to expose my kids to the wonderful world of music that exists. We are all into random family dance parties, and a weekly movie night on the couch.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stayed with a Monk in Thailand that took us to a remote hilltribe village, seen Angkor Wat, Taj Mahal, stayed in a Malaysian Longhouse, lived in Australia and Korea, studied in Mexico, rode a camel through the desert in India, danced onstage with a Korean celebrity, shot off fireworks for Chinese New year in Macau...and lots more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could talk forever...just ask.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories of my travels, experiences and knowledge from around the world, and just a good ol fashion hang around while drinking/eating/playing cards/whatever else you might have.
