ABOUT ME

I'm an outgoing and fun individual who loves to learn about new cultures and see new places. I know how to have a good time, whether this is a chill night out for dinner and great conversation, an adventurous day of SCUBA diving, sailing or various other sports, or a wild night of drinking and dancing. I'm very easy going so it's generally hard not to get along with me.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to live my life in such a way that I won't ever have any regrets that I missed an opportunity to try something new. I'm not quite just a leaf in the wind, but I do consciously make an effort to try new things, even if it doesn't immediately grab me, and I do so with a positive outlook. I generally think that I can learn to love anything and that the main obstacle to having fun in life is not keeping a positive outlook. This has been my way of thinking for some time now, and generally it comes completely naturally to me, something that new acquaintances often recognize early on.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As a host, I would be willing to spend as much free time as I have available to introduce a fellow surfer to my favourite spots and people in my city and ensure that they have a good time. I'm often told I'm one of the best hosts that my friends know.

As a surfer, I would be a very clean and respectful guest in your home. I will likely want to go out and party late at least on some nights, whether with my hosts or without (preferably with if they are available to show me their favourite spots) but would be clear about my plans with my host and if it were ok that I come back late, would be as quiet and respectful of their needs as humanly possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new to this particular community, but I have couch surfed on my own couch (after coming home from adventures in Afghanistan and Thailand in 2011) and mostly on the couches of close friends while visiting different cities within Canada.

Music, be it a concert by a band that I love or one that I've never heard before. My favourite genres of music are hardcore punk, post-hardcore, progressive metal, punk rock, and various types of electronic music such as dubstep, house and almost any variants of them.

I love to go to bars/night clubs and dance all night.

I'm very into sports like biking, sailing, hiking, soccer, SCUBA diving... you name it, and I've tried it or would be willing to try it.

I'm very interested in different cultures and their culinary practices as well and would love to have a local show me the ropes for their traditional diets.

All kinds of movies. My taste is too vast to really narrow down, though I tend to love the horror genre in particular (possibly goes with loving dark music too) and generally if I had to pick one genre as being my least favourite, it would probably be comedy, though I love many comedies that are out there too.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Last summer (2011) I worked as a civilian in Afghanistan with 3 other friends, from July 27th to October 15th at the Kandahar Airfield. I was a general labourer and spent my days washing LAV IIIs, Leopard IIs, and the armour that came off them in preparation to have it shipped back home or to other missions. Afterwards I spent three weeks in Thailand where I took a scooter road trip with 8 people to a jungle bungalow resort, got my SCUBA license, went to a half-moon festival rave in the jungle, and finished it off by partying in Bangkok!

I'm also very into sports, be it traditional sports like soccer, hockey, and football or things like sailing and canoeing.

I'm very outdoorsy and can possibly bring some new skills to the table in a camping environment.

I can teach you how to make any situation a fun one!
