About Me

So... I just quit my job to go travelling around the world. Again!
It's such a great way to learn, and the cost is always an investment in ones self.
I think travel, above all, is all about the people and that's good as I love to meet new people.

Yes, I love people, meeting new people and understanding people or at least trying to!
Other things I love: mild curries, chocolate, mountains, history, photography, reading and so many other things!
Ultimately I'm trying to be the yes man to experience different things and find my niche in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Making friends is my new life philosophy! And getting to see more of a place and culture than I would have otherwise been able to. I am unable to host at this point in my life due to not having an abode: I live on the road! But this will change in the next few years and I would like to become a host and meet loads of cool people!

Interests

People interest me! Oh, and walking. Walking around town, walking up mountains, walking where there are things to be learnt or beauty to be seen. Food! Both the making and the eating! History nerd also, Major history lover. Actually, I could go on and on; we live in such an interesting world in interesting times and I would really like to consider myself open to it all.

Music, Movies, and Books

Asking what is you're favorite music is like asking what you're favorite place is; there probably is a favorite, but it is a hard question to answer. I am open to all kinds of music. Recently I've been listening to Amadou & Mariam, Luisa Maita, Marisa Monte and Rodrigo y Gabriela.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once tried living in a Brazilian favella in Salvador da Bahia. It was both wonderful and really, really not. It was not a sane thing to do and I admit I do doubt my sanity!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make a mean pesto. I love the conversation, and I love to learn to understand people. I've also been to a few places myself and have a few stories to tell. I am trying to learn languages. I've had success with Brazilian Portuguese and have attempted Spanish and Russian. My aim is to get there in the end! I love history and the present and the links between.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I intent to give a gift of some kind to everyone I meet on Couchsurfing experiences. That may be material or not, a skill or an experience.

Countries I’ve Visited
