About Me

Friendly and upbeat with a love for travel and adventure. Inspired by finding the out of the way trails, and the hole in the walls of the world. I hope to expand my horizons, and be able to meet and communicate with people from around the globe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing primarily to meet you! In a non creepy way.. you know? I don't want my travels to be impersonal or full of touristy attractions. I want to have stories, make connections and find something bigger than myself to be a part of.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Everything except country.
No I'm joking, having played classical music for a good chunk of my life I can appreciate an hour or two of active listening, but eventually I'll need something to hum along to. I enjoy alternative rock or indie rock, have recently been getting into hip hop or rap. However, the music I really enjoy has strong rhythmic elements. Pop is fine but it's rhythmically basic, r&b is fine but it can be the same as can country. If you're interested and want examples of the music that I really get into I'd be happy to share!

Books: I used to love reading. I still do, but I used to too. Lately I havent been reading as often but I have the entire Harry Potter collection on audio book and I'm working my way through The Dark Tower series right now. If you have recommendations ill be sure to read them!

Movies: I havent been to see a movie in a long time. Perks of living in a small town. I love going to the movies or watching a play live. Musicals are my guilty pleasures but anything comedic I really enjoy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Something funny I like to remember is when I was travelling through Italy, a friend and I traveled from Lecco, which is north of Milan all the way to Rome. We arrived in Milan by plane from Paris and one of the first things we did was get gelato. That gelato we had in the airport, was without a doubt the best we had ever had. We went back twice to get gelato, and every city we went to since then we got gelato at least 3 times. So most of my trip through Italy was running around trying to find good gelato places to go to, sometimes forgetting to go see the sights we had planned on going to just to find more gelato.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I've been studying music casually for over 10 years and I more often than not travel with my guitar or ukulele. If you have any interest in learing about music, music theory or just how to play your favorite song, chances are I can help with that. Funny story, whenever people see that I play guitar they get really excited. Like "oh! oh! Can you play Wonderwall"? I said maybe...

Alternatively, I'm studying to be an Electrical Engineer so like.. I can do your math homework I guess.

Learn: I'd love to learn about something specific to the area. Or an important event you've experienced. Something challenging that affected your outlook on life from that point on. A big reason of why I travel is to collect stories and experiences. So when I make my way back home I can reflect on the experiences I've had, lessons I've learned and memories I've made. Really anything you can add to that would be appreciated.

Share: I have a dog that loves to lick people. Sounds weird but if you get past the initial few seconds, it's kind of endearing. After a while he'll stop, make eye contact and give you a big smile.

If you're not into that then I'm currently transitioning out of the U.S Military, and can share my stories and experiences I've had within the Marine Corps. As a California native that leans left politically, experiencing the military while stationed in the bible belt was an interesting experience that I will never forget. We can talk about really anything.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can do my absolute best to make my stay as unobtrusive as possible. I like to leave things in similar or better shape that what I found them in. I can also cook, clean, buy the beer. Anything I can to show my appreciation.
