关于我
Hello, I'm Robert, and for reasons I won't bore you with right now, my life took a slightly unexpected turn a couple of years back, which it turns out has opened my eyes to some of the excitement in the world that perhaps I'd been missing.
So I'm temporarily jacking my job in, and coming over to Buenos Aires for a few months, and then probably onto Mexico, and then, who knows.
I'll leave it at that - except to say that I'm a couch surfing neophyte, but very interested to see what it has to offer, and who I might meet in the process.
我为什么加入 Couchsurfing
I've heard people rave about it, and my intrigue got the better of me.
Would love to meet people to do some hiking or cooking or sunbathing or music-making or psychoanalysis-discussing or politics-debating or raving or running or playing cricket or coffee-sipping or life-drawing with.
I've travelled before, but perhaps before I was more interested in packing lots of stuff into my trips - this time, I'm happy to slow down a bit, get to know the city and its people and visitors, and see what happens.

音乐、电影和书籍
Oh my.
Music: the constants - Steely Dan / James Brown / Kate Bush / early 90s jungle / early 80s rap (90s, 00s, 10s also) / Ornette Coleman / Joni Mitchell / girl groups / northern soul etc etc. And at the moment - Leon Vynehall / Carl Craig / a LOT of disco / Lil Kim.
Movies: when you first see Airplane, you wonder whether there's any point seeing more films. But I've seen one or two more, some of which were pretty good.
Books: bringing Don Quixote, some sci-fi, the Highway Code and a whole lotta Freud'n'Lacan with me - woo-hoo!
我做过的一件不可思议的事情
Had a roadtrip / after-party with the B52s.

If you want roughage with a spicy or fragrant edge, I can prepare a mean selection of dhals. I can play a bit of piano, though I'm not sure I could teach it. I'm ok with a map. And I'm a therapist, which supposedly means I'm a good listener (though that can be a mixed blessing for all concerned).
Sorry if that's a bit underwhelming.
I would LOVE however to learn how to use Ableton, do my first ever DJ set at the age of 36, dance the tango, dance to cumbia, grill on an asado, ride a horse.
I really would love to play some music with people while I'm away. I'm bringing my little midi keyboard with me - haven't worked out how to use it yet, but if anyone's looking for a pianist / keybist to jam with, get in touch!

See above - all comes down to dhal and decent speakers really.
And at the risk of sounding corny, I been to Buenos Aires and seen lots of the "sights" and loved them - but this time, I'd like to connect with people - locals especially - more. Do less, maybe, and be more. That really does sound corny.
