About Me

I recently quit my job and decided to travel. I was happy with my boring insurance job and loved spending time with friends and family but expect these travels will enhance my perspective on the world. I graduated with a degree to teach high school math but after being in the classroom for student teaching I realized it was not for me. My long term goal is to buy properties and be my own boss.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have heard about it from multiple travelers while I was in Iceland and figured it was a good way to meet like minded people on my travels.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am okay with most music except for country. I watch a lot action, scifi and biopic movies. Audio books are a new thing for me as reading makes me tired. I really liked The Martian on audio book. I also got Trevor Noah's book via audio book. Trevor read it himself, it was an amazing story.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got my pilots license in high school. During my training I was doing a solo flight. On my way back the tower called up on the radio to tell me that a B-17 was crossing my travel path (a B-17 is a bomber from World War II). At first I thought they were joking but then I saw it... it appeared to be floating because it was moving so slow compared to its size. I got really close, probably closer than I was allowed to, then I realized I forgot to fly my plane, I was needing to start landing procedures. I was way too high and way too fast (better than being too low and too slow) I did everything I knew how to slow and get lower safely but I still was too fast. I came into land and bounced down the runway. I do not remember how many time the plane came off the ground but it was more than 3. Eventually it slowed and I was able to keep it on the ground. I had used all the runway. I had never been that far down the runway so it took me a while to get back to the part of the airport that I knew but I was able to walk away:)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am really good at applied mathematics. You need help with trig, geometry or algebra I am your man. Calc would take me some time as I am rusty. I would love to learn about how other people live. I find it intriguing the worlds we create from ourselves and not sure what type of world I want to create for myself so I figured the only way to know is to learn what others have done. I would be excited to share experiences, healthy food, hike or a yoga practice.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I do not expect to stay with anyone on this site as I would prefer other accommodation but certainly could share my experiences in different countries and meeting different people.
