Master the Chinese language, and make some good friends along the way.
Where to begin? I'm a 31 year old guy from Canada who moved to Taiwan almost 5 years ago for a change of pace and to experience a different culture and way of life. Although I only planned to stay here for one year originally, this country and it's passionate people somehow grabbed a hold of me and hasn't let me go, therefore I am still hanging around with no plans to return to Canada yet. I'm a friendly guy, sometimes quiet, sometimes a little crazy (once you get to know me), who is interested in meeting new people and making new friends. What activities we do doesn't matter so much, as long as we get along well together.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a newbie to this website, although I've heard it mentioned numerous times, and sounds like a pretty cool concept.
Current interests include learning Chinese, exercise (swimming, bike riding, hiking, lifting weights, running, etc), Zen Buddhism and meditation, reading, exploring the city and countryside.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well I suppose moving to Taiwan without knowing anybody, without having a home, a job, or any contacts is one of the most courageous things I've done, not sure if it's really amazing or not though haha. I'm also very interested in Zen meditation, and have participated in many 7 - 10 day meditation retreats, which were all done in complete silence (not being allowed to talk).
