It's the best way to get to know the real native people and what they like to do! To see how they live and to share there country/city with them. It is the best way to find the really good parts of a country/city, what we in Sweden call “Smultronställena" directly translated as “the wild strawberry places”.

I also find that people who open their homes for traveling strangers are awesome! They make great friends and almost always have amazing stories to share.
