ABOUT ME

I'm a 24 year old traveller who spent my first 13 years in Brunei, South East Asia. At 21, after knocking off my school and Uni in New Zealand, I travelled South America for four months and haven't been able to sit still yet. I've got South East Asia, California and Burning Man, UK and lots of Europe under my belt and don't plan to stop any time soon.

I'm relatively settled in London, in a shared house with five people and am hustling my way through the recession, saving what I can to get breaks from this city. All the stuff happening in London is awesome, but you miss out on a lot in the day-to-day living. I'm trying to see more of the US at the moment and will have to break into Africa at some point in the not-too-distant future. It's a big continent to explore.

I love live music and festivals; not as big a fan of clubs but enjoy myself when I'm at them. I was originally mostly into alternate, folk indie and classic rock, but a few years in Europe have ensured that I've been exposed to a ton. Jazz, ambient, psytrance, metal, jam all get pumped through my headphones on my way to work.

Pretty chilled back, though always up for deep conversations. A little on the lazy side while I'm in London, but I always have my next trip planned. I'd like to learn Spanish and get a bit of work experience in project management, so I could coordinate international projects for Fixing the World somewhere down the line. Travel and career ambition are a tough mix though.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Keen to catch up for a coffee and show travellers to London a few things they might not see on the tours and from guidebooks. I'm travelling a fair bit and would like to try couch surfing on those trips to meet local people and see more of the city. I'd like to host people, but circumstances at my flat atm just don't really allow it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far. Very, very used to shared accommodation, as I've backpacked around South America, spent a month in a student flat in Barcelona and lived in a room with three others for my first 9 months in London.

Music, with a passion. Top bands would include Modest Mouse, Pink Floyd, The Decemberists, the Pixies, NIN, Shpongle, Infected Mushroom, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, any rap or hip-hop with a psychadelic edge (pretty rare to find), Radiohead, Weezer... there aren't any genres I really dislike, apart from modern, pop-RnB.

I watch a lot of film, and have a circuit of cheap cinemas to visit through the week in London. Favorites would include Requiem for a Dream, White Men Can't Jump, The Frighteners and Before Sunrise.

Otherwise, travelling is my reason to be. Backpacking is always my first choice, and I'm very happy to stick to a couple of photo opportunities at my destination... I've given up the mindset of being able to 'do' a place. The people you meet are usually the memorable part of the trip, and I enjoy having a few drinks, listening to music and talking shit around a deck of cards.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

The hike up Machu Picchu. I know that it's a little cliche, but hiking and biking three days there, and then seeing this amazing city, shrouded in fog in the middle of nowhere was pretty surreal. When the fog lifted and you could see where you were, it was humbling. After three days of trekking, I had no problem walking around these ruins for 12 hours, and still feel breathless when I think about it.
