Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet and get to know people. Hostels are great for meeting people quickly and hanging out for a day or two, but you rarely get to know anyone well. Couchsurfing allows that opportunity - if the host has the time for it. Also, I like the idea of staying with a local who can recommend neighborhood restaurants, cafes, etc. However, I'm an independent traveler so I don't expect or need a host to "hold my hand" or act as a tour guide.
