About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Looking for a place to stay for a few days after flying into Portland!

ABOUT ME

I spent most of last year WWOOFing and finished my BFA in scupture this year. I enjoy tinkering with electronics but know very little about them, fixing things, creating things, drawing, cooking, foraging, brewing, and fermenting, among other things. I am always looking for new friends, and most of my favorite memories have happened while traveling somewhere. I try to spend at least a month or two every year experiencing new places to keep myself open to other view points and people.

PHILOSOPHY

Appreciate everything. Be grateful and in awe of your and everyone elses abilities and the incredibly low probability that life crash landed here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am still new to couchsurfing, I usually travel through WWOOF, and after many great experiences with hosts I decided to make an account here. Once I settle into a place I plan on becoming a host, but since I am traveling now I can only humbly ask for a place to stay.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None through couchsurfing, but I have stayed on farms all over the west coast through WWOOF. I lived in a flooded RV, a goat barn, and a cold cement cabin last year and after spending way too many nights in a station wagon, I appreciate (just about) anything I can sleep on that isn't facing a steering wheel.

Interests

Music, homesteading culture, mycology, bicycles, hot peppers, conspiracy theories, politics, beer, cheese, pickles, printmaking, woodworking, fine art, reclamation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Fingerstyle and old folk (Fahey, Kottke, Cotten, Homegas, just about anything on Takoma records), Spiritualized, Velvet Underground, Gogol Bordello, Dead Milkmen, The Clash, Ceremony, Belle and Sebastian, Yo La Tengo, Miles Davis.
Movies: Netflix would probably describe my taste in movies as "Cerebral Mind-bending altruistic UFO documentary comedy TV shows"
Books: Whatever is around, I like Vonnegut and field guides.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The beginning (or end) of a rainbow shooting out of the garden I was working in on a farm in Oregon after a heavy rain. I don't know if it was scientifically possible but it was real. I also saw a double rainbow sandwiching lightning between mountains in Wyoming.

Teach, Learn, Share

Basic guitar, intermediate drums, mushroom identification, cooking/fermenting lessons, food preservation, advanced woodworking, I have taught woodworking and video production in varying levels.
