ABOUT ME
I do Cultural Studies in Berlin since October 2011. Coming to Berlin was the best decision to make. Berlin is international, young and creative and I enjoy to meet lots of interesting people here. Cultural Studies is great but, as I had to realize for the last months, not the right thing for me. I am going to start psychology in October.
I am an open-minded, creative and outgoing guy looking for fun, inspiration and excitement. Sometimes I am loud and talkative. Sometimes I am not - depends on mood and situation. I behave like I feel. And I think that's a good character.
I do painting and drawing. It is more a hobby than professional work, but for me it is a good compensation. There is a little show coming up in October.
Travelling is for me myself very important for it gives me a lot of inspiration in life. I love to be in foreign countries, meet people who give me new perspectives and see all those great places in the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I joined CS some months ago, visited Istanbul and surfed the couches there with a friend. I do also host, but most of the time it is really hard to manage because I have a roomie and many friends who like Berlin, me and my place. So the flat is most of the time quiet crowded. But I do my best to host as many people as I can.
Berlin is Germany's most beautiful and exciting place - So, come on guys, come here and get a real image of German youth culture and false prejudices. We Germans are not as stuffy and self-controlled as the world thinks we are! ;)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far I have only done it once and it was brilliant. A friend of mine and me travelled to Istanbul in March 2012. I met so many nice and friendly people who I actually became friends with.
I am going to surf the couches in Barcelona, Nice and Paris in September. I hope it will be as amazing as it was in Istanbul.
Couchsurfing is for me a system that definitely fits the idea of the world we live in. It is fun and exciting to meet people from all over the world all being open-minded and interested in each other. As we all live in times of globalization we should learn from each other and be interested in all those people surrounding us.
Just a short anecdote:
I met a super smart woman at a CS party in Taksim, Istanbul. As we did some small talk we finally started to speak about art and inspiration. She herself was a painter too, very talented as I can tell from the photos she showed me on her mobile phone. And as she asked me what I was currently working on, I told her that I was kind of out of inspiration and that I actually had not worked on something for around two months. Maybe my inadvertently sad face made her laugh but than she rummaged around in her bag and grabbed a tissue. She took a pen and wrote a quote on it by an artist speaking to all the artists out there who are out of inspiration. It helped me a lot to start some new work.
And inspiration like this is for me the essence of CS.
Interests
As I mentioned earlier, art is my passion. I love to visit exhibitions, see the work of new artists and discover painting and drawing by myself.
