About Me
Hey! I'm Robin from The Netherlands, and who are you? :-)
I am an easy-going, friendly guy (if I may say so myself) with a broad range of interest. What makes me happiest are good times with friends, making music with my co-artist Hanna (I play keyboard/piano) and learning about the world. I love discovering stuff like history, arts, mindful living, philosophy and related topics. I have a bachelor in marketing and work as a marketeer.
ME TRAVELLING
In a room with (new) people I'm often happy about meeting others. I love joking around, shoot topics and talk about what sparks interest. Upon that, when traveling, I honestly aim for great to moments to share with like-minded people and enjoy life. For me, personally, that can vary from relaxing to dancing, to having a heartfelt conversation about world/personal topics. One time, for example, i was in a hostel in La Spezia in Italy and a new roommate and I found a hidden pathway (no joke) into a forest. After hiking and climbing for an hour, we suddenly stood face-to-face with a wild mountain bore. We ran back to the hostel screaming like schoolgirls. Turned out it was bore-hunting season hahaha :-/
Having these moments are really important to me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing so i connect with local people, because for me it elevates the whole experience. I would say that my modus operandi is light-hearted fun and interest. But because I'm often fascinated by the ordinary, meeting people from other cultures re-opens the world. Not only for me, but sharing these moments is sheer awesomeness. That's why I think Couchsurfing is perfect!

BOOKS:
To be honest, in reading i have dry- and high seasons.

War and Peace — Tolstoy, Leo
Everything starts at Bach — Kerkhof, Merlijn
Six Pillars of Self-Esteem — Branden, Nathaniel
Right now trying to shake my book-reading dry spell with The Karamazov Brothers by Dostoevsky. Although these books are amazing they're also very looooong. So after this one i'm open for lighter reading recommendations!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In Utrecht I organized film screenings for 50+ guests showing arthouse films in unusual locations (a warehouse, garden or concert hall). One screening, we offered a 'trip' to Libanon, where the guests experienced an Lebanese movie-night with Fairuz music, mezze snacks and a Lebanese movie. The opening act was a live poetry show by a former beirutian, Randa, who described her refuge to Holland. After the event, we received many great messages from the guests about how much they loved the "Lebanese Movie Night".
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to teach, learn and share about cooking recipe's, pop music, world war ll, cellular biology, car washing, artificial intelligence. Anything under the sun and stars, to be honest hahaha :-)
