About Me

Hey!

I'm 27 years old, and work as a Theatrical Technician, doing light, scenic, and sound work, in New York City.

I like juggling and joking around or just sticking my nose in a good book for hours as the mood suits.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing to meet new and interesting people, and learn about new ways of thinking about the world. Additionally, getting to see a new perspective of where I live and share it with others is always a fun experience. As is getting to travel around and see other places and learn about them. I love finding out-of-the-way places and learning about a place by wandering around it or, better yet, from the people who live there. I love to learn new things and teach what I know to others who want to learn it. There's nothing more important in the world sometimes than getting lost, even if it's just so you can find yourself again.

Interests

I love juggling, art and entertainment. I love to help create art and help people realize their dreams.

I also like to cook (I'm vegetarian [no meat but cheese and eggs are ok] but I don't mind cooking meat and from what I've heard I'm pretty good at it). And while I'm no gourmet chief I always enjoy a challenge and love trying to make new things or try something new.

Along with art, I'm addicted to stories. I love to hear or read new things and even enjoy telling a fews myself.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music: Comedy (either Johnathan Coulton or Ylvis are currently my favorite artists) though I like almost all music.

Favorite Movie: Blazing Saddles, Black Adder, and the Marx Brothers

Favorite Books: Terry Pratchett's Discworld Series

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I wear shorts and short sleeved shirts in almost any weather. I will wear gloves and earmuffs if it gets cold enough, but I only wear long pants/trousers for work or formal occasions. I can survive in -30 degrees C in just shorts, t-shirt, gloves, and earmuffs.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd be happy to teach or share anything I can.

I'm a very good at fixing things and figuring out how they work and am always happy to explain that or help show what to look for or how to repair something.

I can try to teach English though my other languages aren't quite good enough that I think I'd be a good teacher but pronunciation or anything else you'd like to work or or help with I'd love to do what I can.

I'm also a fair hand at doing math or science as I studied engineering at university so anything I can help with I'll gladly teach.

Anything else I can teach or share I'd be happy to do, whether it be teaching someone how to juggle or stiltwalk, or how to row or sail. I have an odd set of skills I've picked up over the years ranging from knots and camping to a little sewing and arts and crafts.

As for learning, I'd love to learn anything you feel like sharing. I find I enjoy learning new languages, and love to try to learn at least a little from each place I go. I like to learn about new cultures and ideas, and enjoy discussing anything from politics to philosophy if the other person is so inclined.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As I mentioned before I'm good at fixing things or troubleshooting problems and can do things like wiring or other household repair if I have or can get the right tools (I usually travel with at least a few). I can also fix or track down a fair amount of computer trouble though I'm no programmer.

I can share food and stories or experience and a kind, listening ear.

I also am happy to help out however I can, whether it be helping move something heavy, re organize a space, or just helping with chores that need to be done.
