About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Been around, seen a lot, learned some. Need more.

ABOUT ME

I have been a vet for a long time, and have a practice for small animals that we opened in June 2004.

Ivonne and I have been married since 2004. We have 3 children and 5 grandchildren (almost 6).

I'm very laid back, and like to know people and places. We don't smoke or do any other kind of s---t.

Enjoy fishing every now and then. We have hundreds of water bodies to enjoy our sport, which we visit as often as possible.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't really have a stated philosophy. I try to live and let live. Learn and try to teach. Observe and try not to be intrusive.
One thing I know is I'm making hystory for my family, so I have to be careful.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We host (Ottawa is a very touristic city), and have been hosted, and it has (almost) always been a very good experience. We have received many requests, and are waiting for some people to come to our couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We had our first couchsurfing experience as hosts for Maja and Uros from Slovenia in August 2008. They stayed with us for 2 nights and it was a very positive experience since they have been couchsurfers for a long time and know how this all works. Thank you guys, wonderful experience.
We were also hosted by Rui in Lisbon (Sept. 2008)and had a great time with him.
We have hosted another wonderful person on October 2008, Lisa, and everything worked out well.
The worst couchsurfing experience was with a guy in Brampton ON, on Oct 2008 who had the filthiest place on earth, a complete biohazard, with battery acid smell and all that.
Then, on December 2008 we hosted Dianne and Chris, from France. This was the first time for them, and they were all reserved in the beginnig, but eased up shortly after meeting and having a glass of wine.

Interests

Interested in people. Of course, animals too, since I'm a veterinarian, but that's my job, so my passion is people.
Wine is high up on my list of interests, red being my favourite. Very moderate drinker.
I also love woodworking, and I've made over 70% of my own furniture. But this is a winter hobbie, when all Canadians are hybernating. In the summer, fishing, short trips (there's a lot to see around here).

We take one long trip every year, usually 2 weeks in September.

Good food and red wine are also one of my interests, as is being clean and groomed.

Music, Movies, and Books

In music, eclectic taste. I like all kinds of music, but in due time. Rock, classical, salsa, mariachi; you name it. I can take it all. Well, I lied; I don't like Opera (nor Oprah).
Movies? Action packed
Books: Oh, my God!! If I like a book, I can read it in 2 days. The last one I read was like that, but I have a funny characteristic: movies and books are my brain "candies". I eat them and forget about them, so when I watch or read them again, it's like the first time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing we've done was to raise 3 children, and still live to tell the story. All three are professionals and with very good jobs.
Now it's time for them to raise their own; I'll just spoil their offspring. I'm good at that.
Another one: To have started my own practice at age 53. Crazy, ain't it?
And there's many more, but too many to tell.

Teach, Learn, Share

My special knowledge is Veterinary Medicine, and love to share experiences around a good glass of wine.

I love to share the beauty of our City, which in itself is beautiful, and still, after many years of living here, we always find new spots worth trying.

There's many other things to talk about, but it's better when they come out naturally, as a good conversation should be.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Hong Kong, Portugal, Spain, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
