About Me

I am currently travelling around Europe before make the big move to NYC in September on a 1 year working visa. While I am looking for a place to stay while I find my own place in New York, I am also NOT looking just for a place to sleep - I would love to make friends and explore the city with the host/locals.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To seek and explore places overseas while meeting awesome, like-minded people.

I've always been a traveller at heart. I was born in Australia but my background is mixed: I am half Polish and half Filipino! Aside from ethnicity, my Dad grew up in a Jewish community, while my Mum in a Catholic family - trust me when I say I've seen it all. Stemming from such a mixed background, I've grown up to firmly believe that everyone has their own story. I love meeting people from around the world and getting to know them.

In return, if anyone is in Melbourne and wants advice, tips, or guidance on where to go out, fire away. If you want to know: the best places to eat, go out, have a drink, bar, nightclub - please don't hesitate to ask! I love going out for drinks and food, and love to share my favourite places.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am generally not in a position to host, but in the future, a.k.a. when I have a house, I would like to.

Interests

- Photography - a strong hobby of mine, although I'm amateur at best haha. Still learning!
- Food - huuuge foodie! Ask me out for brunch and I'll be there in a second. Half a second, even.
- Bars & Nightlife - I worked in hospitality for 6 years in Melbourne. Stemming from this is a passion for the search of great bars and nightspots. I'm not so much of a huge nightclub person; the smaller, divier or personable the bar is, the better!
- Hiking & Nature - I love going out for day hikes and walks. My favourite experience to date is hiking Mt. Fuji in Japan to watch the sunrise from the summit.
- Music Festivals and Gigs - this is a big one. I LOVE my music, and seeing live acts/DJs. If you're a fellow gig-lover, I would love to get to know you!!
- Road Trips and Camping - Growing up in Australia gives you a certain affability for the love of outdoors, road trips and camping with your mates. I have a soft spot for falling asleep somewhere where you can watch the starry skies in all their glory.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC

Too many to mention, but house, techno, hip-hop and indie are my favourites. Seriously, I love going to music gigs and festivals. Large or small, but in my experience the smaller the better!

The best acts I've seen live... Childish Gambino for a New Years countdown. Phoenix back in their day. Picnik Electronic is still by far my favourite music festival for techno. And -- Kaytranada would have to be one of my ULTIMATE favourite gigs. RL Grime was pretty good too. Flight Facilities when they performed with a live orchestra. Like I said - there are too many to mention!

MOVIES & BOOKS

The last couple books I've read are "Wild" and "All the Lights I Cannot See", but among my favourites are "The Book Thief," "The Day They Killed my Father", and "The Kite Runner".
Movies-wise, my favourites include "Memento", "Kings of Summer", "Shawshank Redemption" ... again there are too many to say. I could list a whole bunch of classic and independent movies here, but I'd also be lying if I said I hated Marvel movies or chick flicks. I love them all.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Win a competition to travel around the world for free for 3 weeks.

Hiked to the summit of Mt. Fuji to watch the sunrise.

Went on a yoga retreat in Portugal.

Partied at Cinetrip Spa Party in Budapest's thermal baths.

Meditated underneath a waterfall on a sacred Japanese mountain.
