COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The most recent and memorable was in summer of 2011 when I was roaming in this remote valley of Kailashas up north in Pakistan covering this occasion some two hours away from where I was staying with nothing on me except the clothes I was wearing and my camera when I slipped into the stream, soaking myself entirely and then having had to stay back because of poor weather. I was hosted by a local and experienced first hand how it was like being inside a Kailash house.

Music: for the past few years, Klezmer, Malian, Mongolian, Persian, Balkan, Azerbaijani, Rajhanstani, Pakistani...besides that from western music, blues, psychedelic, classic rock...some random names over the top of my head right now...Bruce Springsteen, Dylan, Tinariwen, Ali Farka Toure, Neil Young, Zeppelin, Floyd, Stones, Dire Straits, Velvet Underground, Sigur Ros, Can, Ahmet Aslan, Pournazers Shams Ensemble, Mohsin Namjoo, Shajarian, Sam Cooke, Blind Willie Johnson, Fleetwood Mac...hell they would just keep coming.

Movies: Even though I havent seen much, but I am really fond of Persian movies. Tarantino, Scorsese, Kusturica, a few Kubricks, Kurosawas, Bergmans, Majidis. I watch anything from anywhere as long as it has a good plot. Some names that come to me right now are Taxi driver, Forrest Gump, Guizi lai le, Come and see, Nameless gangster, Ip man, Godfather, The hedgehog, One flew over the cuckoos nest, No country for old men, Cooking history, Das Boot, Platoon, Goodfellas, V for Vendetta, Into the wild, Aftershock, Nanjing Nanjing, Deerhunter, As good as it gets, English patient, Snatch, Lock Stock n two smoking barrels, Legend of falls, The best of youth, Lord of the rings and so on and so forth.

Books: Me and them haven't been at good terms lately.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Have been to some high altitude lakes back in Pakistan, walked the himalayas, karakoram and hindukush, spent a week with Kailashas, saved a kid from drowning in a pool :D heard a lot of good music. met around 200 people from around the world via this amazing platform.
