About Me

I am Rodolfo from Mexico City. I joined Couchsurfing a few years ago when I begun traveling. I am a Historian specialized on Mesoamerican Studies. For many years I worked as an English teacher. Besides that, I have had some other short term jobs like waitering, real-state broker, or landscaping. I have a particular interest in permaculture, sustainability, holistic healing and intentional communities. I have recently been exploring these milieus in my travels, mostly by participating as a volunteer in organic farms and other sort of communal projects. Before actually traveling abroad I had taken some courses on bio-construction, organic farming, and natural health; I am a shiatsu therapist and certainly able to practice this healing modality where I go, sometimes as an interchange. I really like hiking, swimming, forest bathing or simply spending time in nature. I also appreciate art, and very much enjoy cooking and having a pleasant time around food and good conversation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is definitely a great hub to get some good feed from travelers about places you go to, and to connect with those with shared interests, besides being an amazing platform to find places to stay for a short time and get to experience local life as it is. I am also pleased to host visitors whenever it is possible at places I might be living.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy different musical genres, from Rock and reggae to Classical, mostly old-school. I also very much appreciate easy-listening sounds like ambient, instrumental, new age and down-tempo.

Besides academic readings on History, Anthropology and Social Sciences, I enjoy novelists such as Haruki Murakami, Umberto Ecco, Hermann Hesse or Mircea Eliade.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ceremonies.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can always teach or have an interchange around History and Social Sciences or with shiatsu, and I am always interested in learning about permaculture, organic farming or natural health; while just going on a hike or cooking a meal together can make my day.
