I find enjoyment in learning, and my interest in other cultures was seeded by my fascination with language (even though I'm no polyglot). And of course, as a traveller, I cannot help but to like the touristy stuff too; don't get me wrong, I'm here for a taste of the raw culture, but pretty sights are quite a thing for a foreign eye, even one as myopic as mine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I got the itch to travel, and couchsurfing seems like a very compelling idea, one aspect often missed when traveling is the the true cultural nature of the place, we tend to travel as if we were in some sort of safari, we see, we take a photo, we read the pamphlets and then leave. I'm trying to change that about my travels, hopefully this will bring me closer to experience a place and and a time in a way that I could not get if I were to travel via an agency or purely by my own means.
