About Me

My name is Roel, born in '84 in Holland and currently traveling and working around Australia.

One of my biggest passions in life is food and after studying at a Chefs School in Belgium and at a Hotel Management School Maastricht (one of the most burgundy places in Holland), I started City is Yours, a platform to discover and collect the most amazing places in the world. From pop-up restaurants, coffee bars to small local boutiques, we will cover it all with our cooperation with local experts.

Myself, I love to travel the world and absorb real local life. I've lived in Beijing for one year during the Olympic games in 2008 and have travelled in South-America where we started in Brazil and crossed Argentina, Bolivia and finished our journey with an amazing experience of hiking the Machu Pichu.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all sorts of music but have less interest in R&B and Hard-Rock.

Perhaps rather watch a documentary then a movie.

I had to laugh reading the Rosie Project but can also like to read books like The 4 hour work week and The Element: How finding your passion changes everything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- worked one year in China during the Olympic Games
- meet one person on three different continents in 6 months time
- live in Sydney and work as a chef
- hiking the Machu Pichu in Peru
- hiking the Rinjani volcano in Lombok
