About Me
Hello!
My name is Rogan, I'm 28 years old, from Australia and make a living by welding and fabricating things out of metal. I've been travelling around Latin America since 27/11/2025. A big part of my travels are centered around my hobby, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! I've been training for around 4 years and have found it an amazing way to meet and share a connection with new people wherever I go, even with a language barrier. I enjoy going for scenic hikes and outdoor activities of all kinds! I'm also an absolute sucker for a good museum, enjoy arts and music of all kinds and am in love with discovering new parts of culture. My main way to relax is to read a good book.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A very friendly Canadian couple I met in a hostel whilst in La Serana (Chile) told me about this website. They told me they have had a really good experience on here and have met and stayed with some really friendly and cool people. I also think this would be a really great way to connect with some like minded people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've contributed to some amazing projects through my work. My personal favourite was building a dual use pontoon that now lives on the great barrier reef, serving as both a tourist attraction and a scientific station.
Teach, Learn, Share
Definitely do not drink un-refrigerated horse milk on the streets of Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan. you WILL get so sick you wake up in a puddle of your own vomit and diarrhoea. It is a good way to meet some very nice nana's that will care for you however.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would love to introduce someone to Jiu Jitsu. It has changed my life in so many positive ways, it is a passion of mine spreading the good word. It can be a bit intimidating for new people, but you will discover the most friendly and positive community possible.
Otherwise, I can share my positive and up-beat attitude for life, a partner in crime for some shenanigans and I also bake a mean as apple pie when I have a kitchen!
