I grew up in foothills of some of the most beautiful mountains in the world, The American Rockies. I finished up school at University of Colorado at Boulder a few years ago, and then ran a small business and saved money for traveling. I am a very laid-back, somewhat responsible, respectful, and genuinely interested individual looking for other interesting people to share my travels with. I am also not opposed to getting down with the local scene.

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy on life has a strong focus on balance, although I do not always stick to my idealized beliefs. I believe most things in life require moderation, whether they are positive or negative; too much of anything is not a good thing. I also believe in having a good attitude and open mind as much as possible, especially in situation you may not understand.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am excited about traveling in a way that will allow me to see how life actually is in the places I visit instead of hopping from one tourist spot to the next. I am willing to help my host with any task they may need assistance with. I am just down to have a good time with anyone willing to host me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed a few times in NZ, and they were all positive experiences. I think it´s a wonderful way to get to know an area. My favorite experience was in the first leg of my trip. I stopped by someone´s house about a week before Christmas, but I was only going to stay for a few days. They insisted I stay for there for 10 days and just be part of the family. This was amazing considering I was so far from home.

I am very interested in the diversity of the world's natural environment and culture. I have spent the last few years really getting to know my own country as well as possible by exploring the West including Utah, Colorado, California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, and Arizona. I love hiking, back-country camping, cycling, and other outdoor and nature pursuits. I also am very into many different types of music and shows.

There is so much I enjoy from these three categories. I love to watch documentaries (History, Nature, Political, etc.) and any movie that brings it together well. I read a variety of literature, but definitely both good fiction and non-fiction. Kurt Vonnegut is one of my favorite American authors. I like almost any type of music and cannot get enough of it live; same favorites are Galactic, Talking Heads, Radiohead, Aesop Rock, Devotchka, Brother Ali, Beirut, Atmosphere, and Umphrey's McGee, etc.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

The 28-day field course at the Boulder Outdoor Survival School I just finished in Southern Utah was probably the most intense thing I have ever done. We spent four weeks wandering 200+ miles through the mountains and desert canyons of the Escalante region with little to no rations. We learn skills that help people survive in the wilderness such as trapping, fire-making, animal processing, gathering, shelter building, etc. I left a changed person with a new view on what I really need in life to live well.
