About Me

"I am the only person in the world I should like to know thoroughly." ― Oscar Wilde

Originally born and brought up in the Indian city of Calcutta, now Kolkata, I currently reside in the Indian capital, New Delhi. I am a practicing lawyer and a part time aircraft enthusiast. Had I not been a lawyer, I would probably have been a pilot. Besides being an avid aircraft lover and enthusiast, I am a trained Indian classical vocalist. Needless to say that I absolutely love music. I can spend days and weeks listening to the like of Billy Joel, Frank Sinatra, Jagjit Singh, Leonard Cohen, Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, Zakir Huassain, Yehudi Menuhin, John Coltrane to name a few. I love Jazz, instrumental and Ghazals (Persian - Indian music form).

I am not a movie buff but I heavy on thrillers and non-fiction movies. I am in love with the Netflix series called Dark and probably one of the best things I have watched in a long long time. I am inherently an extrovert. I would not say that I am much of a traveler. My work does not permit/allow me to travel frequently. However, it was only in June of 2017 that I visited Eastern parts of Europe for the first time in my life and have absolutely fallen in love with it. The quest to know other parts of Europe and interact with people brings me to couchsurfing. Infact, during my first visit, I mostly stayed at AirBNB's and had the good fortune of meeting some local Austrian, Czech, Hungarian and Slovak people. I took the fantastic walking tours with locals, tried the local cuisine and did everything local. I dislike small talk and believe in quality conversations.

Also, whenever I get time, I love to cook for myself. Therefore, I can cook Indian food for you. I would love to meet people from across the globe and tell them about my culture, my people. I would love to share my experiences and would be glad to listen to yours. Extremely energetic, love the human mind, and also love peace.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would rather not be hackneyed here. I want to see any city that I visit through the eyes of a local. That is primarily because I have had exhilarating experiences previously. My tour guide, who I happened to meet on walking tour perhaps opened my eyes to what a local can be like. She gave me and my friend and a whole bunch of people the idea of the town I was visiting. I was living her dream, her vision. That is beautiful.

Also, because, I would like to know about your culture, your food, your travels, your ups and downs. To make friends for a lifetime. We are all one in this big, big world.
