About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To continue to enjoy life.

ABOUT ME

All about me would be to say 'That I am like many other people.

Male, Mammal, Married, Old, Still Working, Bald, 4 children (1 married, 1 gay, 1 set of twins, with one of them still at home.) SOUNDS NORMAL TO ME.

PHILOSOPHY

My high school annual has a quote under my picture. I don't know who wrote it but they were right on the money then and it has remained true over my life with very little effort. It was just natural and enjoyable. The actual quote was 'My trade and art is to live.'

That is what I have done and would not change a great deal of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My participation is to provide assistance if possible when called on. My life of participation actually started some years back by hosting Snow Skiing Competitors while in Albuquerque, New Mexico and then later my family hosted member of the Japanese National High School Wrestling Team while in Fresno.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

To this point mere email communiation. Larger participation late after having some exposure and research to the system.

Interests

Cycling. I grew up in a heavy mountainous area of California just east of Fresno. Cycled quite heavily with a high school buddies; around home, in and around Fresno, and in Mexico. Rosarita to Ensenada.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love John Grisham books, Love Movies (bad Habit) I waste to much time doing this. Need to be more active. Most enjoyable thing is to teach and pass on things that I have learnt in life. (IE. The term 'Common Sense' - Common Sense does not exist. If it were common everyone would have a little bite and you and I both know that is not true.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My life is all amazing to me.

I was very fortunate in that I was trained while in the Air Force to operate and program the predecessors of the now-a-day computer. After leaving the military, I taught myself how to program the computer IBM 1401, IBM 360s and the likes. With this knowledge I was able to move around the country at my lesure and find employment most any where because no one had canned packaged systems that could be purchased at the store as you have today. Most will probably not admit it but I will. I was one of the computer program developers that caused the millinium scare in the cut over from 1999 to 2000.

I am sure that I am not the oldest but I have skied with Al; who Al's Run is named for in Taos, New Mexico. Al skied with an oxygen tank because he did not have the lung capicity.

As recently as September 2009, I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon from the North Rim to the South Rim. 14 miles down and 10 miles up, in 2 days. Second time for this. This last time was after the removal of part of one of my lungs.

Teach, Learn, Share

As stated before, I love to pass on things that I have learnt over my life to those that are interested and wanting to learn. An I wish everyday that I had paid attention to my father and his peers when they got together and told their story of life.
