I'm Romain, a young musician from Nantes, France. I play in a few bands (indie/synth) and sometimes for plays/choirs. I studied Jazz drumming in conservatory - and yes, I have seen Whiplash! I divide my time between producing music, rehearsing, and working on extras (and sometimes a bit touring). Hanging out is also part of my schedule, especially for my favorite time of the day, late afternoon and sunset ! I enjoy good talks, having fun, learning things and non-toxic human interactions as a whole.
I occasionally get to work with children and teenagers, and I think the passing on and the blending of generations are very important. It is always interesting to me to hear about other people's passions and opinions...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Seems like a good idea! My sister advised me to sign in (see she's my only friend on CS yet), since she got to make great connections that way on her trip to Swiss. I don't often travel, but when I do it is to make more friends and meet people. I like to go visit friends abroad when given the opportunity, and my best memories from travelling are the contacts I've had with people there, and the feeling of opening myself. In my opinion it is also a good way to quit one's safe cocoon !

Music, Movies, and Books

These days, mostly into Johnny Jewel, Beach House, Oppenheimer analysis, The Human League, Kraftwerk, Gavin Bryars, Julia Holter, The Arcade Fire, The Knife, Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Max Roach, Frank Sinatra, some 90s techno/house, italo-disco and film music ... Pretty much open about most kinds. Above all i'm a fan of the popular song format, in its many variations from indie to mainstream (presumptuous way to say that I like short songs). I can also enjoy some experimental stuff.
Tom Cruise fan ahah (aside scientology obviously), American cinema of the 70 - 90s (Scorsese, Spielberg, Kubrick... Scorsese.). Highschool movies (the good ones), Christian Petzold, Paweł Pawlikowski, Leos Carax, road movies, heist movies, introspective movies, movies that make you feel things. Not easy to list ! I also like good political documentaries.
Shows/Series: Fargo, Freaks and Geeks, Twin Peaks, The OA, Community

Though I don't read a lot, last year I enjoyed books by Edouard Louis and Edward Saïd, among Patty Smith and Judith Butler. I'm looking forward to finding a really moving fiction novel to dive in.
I'm very very interested in sociology and political analysis of media, society, and I watch way too many videos on youtube about these topics.

I guess a truly EXTRAORDINARY thing is yet to come, but I'm working on it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I play the drums and the piano, always happy to share skills! I'm getting more and more into music production/arrangement as well. I can always take from other people's perspectives on music and art, even when they don't practise themselves. It is often more relevant in my opinion!
