I've always believed that the world needs more kindness. I'm learning to show more kindness in my own life and sometimes even to myself. I've owned a coffee shop since 1998 and if gives me the opportunity to create a space where people can connect over coffee or take time for themselves. About 8 years ago I also got licensed as a Realtor to sell real estate. I've enjoyed the variety of both businesses in my life. As a kid growing up my family went on a few vacations to Europe, Barbados, Mexico and throughout the USA and I always loved those times of exploring.
It's worth saying I am fewer on words and more on thoughts. I'm a good listener.
I don't smoke. I do like to have a beer. I'm a pescatarian (eats fish but not other meats).

Kenya 2019
I'm heading to Kenya end of November. I was in Kenya in 2018 and am heading back to help a friend open a hair salon to help support their family and to help some of their extended family put in a cement floor in their hut to prevent jiggers from getting in their skin.
I hope to also do a safari and get to the coast for some beach time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Looking for some budget accommodations during my travels. I usually stay at hostels but I thought I'd give this a shot. I'm a bit nervous about it in the sense that I don't know what to expect. This will be a growing experience for me. My hope is to meet some cool people and make friends. Sometimes in my world it's hard to meet new people and make friends. Couchsurfing I believe is a way to create those opportunities.

Interests

Being a coffee shop owner I love to explore other coffee shops in my part of the world but also when I travel. It's a simple thing to just have a cup of coffee in a foreign land but for me it feeds my soul.
A few years ago I got my motorcycle license and have loved getting out for rides. Currently I'm not running much but would love to get back into it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read personal development books and am part of a leadership book club that meets weekly to chat about the things we are learning.
I really like movies about WWII even though they're sometimes hard to watch. I often like movies based on actual events.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think a personal amazing thing I've done is to backpack solo by myself without much of a plan and just figuring it out as I go.
