CURRENT MISSION

I am a relative newcomer to world travel but I have always wanted to explore the world around me and see for myself how connected we all really are. As a child in school I loved learning about far aways lands and the cultures and peoples who created them!

ABOUT ME

I am a firm believer in the admonition expressed by all of the sages and for me best by Ghandi..."Be the change you wish to see in the world!" I am a certainly a work in progress but I try to live my life with integrity, honor and love for myself and humanity. I love meeting new like minded people...especially those from other cultures as it re-enforces my belief that we are at our core all connected.

PHILOSOPHY

BE the change you wish to see in the world! I cannot make others do anything they really don't want to do and neither can anyone force me...thus the only one I can really truely "control" is myself. When we recognise that we are all connected and treat each other as we want to be treated we will choose to make the world a better place for all of us.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just joined the site at the suggestion of friends who have been members for some time. I am blessed to have many friends who have traveled extensively around the world and I trust their welcome advise. While I have lots of other interests and responsibilities, I have no doubt I will find the appropriate level of participation here to be considered a true participant!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love historical fiction, comedies, uplifting stories of truimph and achievment. My favorite author is a spiritual teacher named Neale Donald Walsh who wrote the Conversations with God series of books....as for music, I enjoy most as long as it doesn't promote violence or hatred ie...rap is good...gangsta rap not so much! My personal favorites are "old school" soul and sappy love songs but always open and willing to listen to something new.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the best days of my life was Dec 5th 2008 in a small town in NE Thailand. I share the same birthday as the King of Thailand and while visiting the villiage of a new friend I had met online in a part of Thailand that rarely saw foriegners, I walked out to the main street and found a parade in progress for the Kings birthday which had the entire regions school children from pre-school to the local university marching. As soon as I came into view(proudly wearing my pale yellow shirt in honor of the King of course)I was the focus of attention for the entire town! One little girl stopped marching and walked up to me and said "hello" in perfect English to which I replied "sawadee krup" in my best tortured Thai...the squeels of delight and smiles that erupted on that street at that moment turned into a title wave of "hellos" and greetings/laying of hands on me that I will never forget!! I was a rock star for over an hour in this little Thai village! People brought their babies and grand parents out just to meet me and take pictures with me. I spent the day eating and drinking and trying to communicate with so many lovely people it was incredible. It was one of the greatest experiances of my life!
