About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Setting up a world wide relay drawing project

ABOUT ME

Genuine travelers travel not to overcome distance but to discover distance. Distance is not determined by the measurable length between places, but by the actual differences between them...

Always curious to meet new people. Eager to see the world. This unimaginable universe!

PHILOSOPHY

Not to win, but to develop. Hoping for a surprise.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My best experiences were fantastic in all its simplicity: We cooked together, had talks around the dinner table, some wine for desert and just before we went to bed we crossed a little bridge to our worlds.

Interests

Culture, art, media, comics, cities, traveling, maps, libraries, getting lost... I mostly travel with my minivan, but I prefer taking my bicycle or to hitchhike. Also I have a canoe which is my little escape vehicle out of this world.

Recently I've become involved in setting up a local alternative economy. One in which you don't trade with money but with time. This way you can accomplish things without having any money. It has many resemblances with CS and it's all about building trust and creating social capital. Educated as an artist, I never suspected that economy could be that fun.

Music, Movies, and Books

No special category. I like to browse every department of the library. Personal choice of good things I happened to come across. Tom Waits, Phillip Glass, Jamiroquai, Daft Punk, Goran Bregovic. Jorge Louis Borges, short story the Aleph has made a very deep impression on me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visited wounded New York just a few days after 9/11. Drove with my minivan from the Netherlands to Moscow. Spoke English to a guy in the middle of Siberia who never spoke English to a foreigner before. Hitchhiked from Istanbul back to Amsterdam.

Teach, Learn, Share

These people I especially hope to meet:
People who have experience with local trade networks or,
people who share stories,
or musicians that make drawings,
and those that I did not plan to meet.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belarus, Belgium, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Russian Federation, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
