About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm an open person. I like to listen to stories from people from other places. I like to have a laugh but I can be serious when I need to. I don't drink beer, but I do have a soft spot for whisky. I'm not a religious guy myself but I like discussions about religion and spirituality. I like to travel and meet new people young and old. I like to sport (running and fitness) I still want to learn how to make a salto from the ground.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For one of my phototrips to Istanbul (2012) I wanted to stay with locals for I needed someone to be my guide and who could translate for me. Ans couchsurfing seemed to be the best way to do it. That's where I met Serkan who hosted me and became a friend and who visited me in Amsterdam two years ago.
Now I use couchsurfing to meet other travelers and locals when ever I'm abroad.

Interests

I became a freelance photographer when I was 44 and quit my job to be a fulltime photographer at the age of 48 so I'm mainly busy taking pictures. I love to make portraits. And when I'm not taking pictures I'm probably making music or reading a book.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all kinds of music, one of my favorite bands now is Coldplay.

One of the amazing books I have read was by Sir Ken Robinson; The Element, how finding your passion changes everything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was present at the birth of my daughter and son that is an amazing thing to witness. I have stayed in the Okavango Delta for 10 days with my girlfriend and a guide. Camping in the wild and listen to all the sounds at night was something really special.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Botswana, France, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Malawi, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Zimbabwe
