About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm quiet until I get to know someone. I like words and language and exploring new places by foot or on bike. I like meeting people.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to create positive change in the world- I hope my life will have a positive effect, not a negative one.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed in Northampton, MA while I was looking for a place to live. It worked out great, and I got a cool tour around an awesome town and met some interesting people.

Interests

creative writing, hiking, backpacking, painting, poetry, sleep, interesting people, running, co-ops, thunderstorms, building cairns, contra dancing, transcendentalism, tea parties, intense conversations, mountains, farmers markets, fresh vegetables, making and fixing things, improvisational language use, regenerative design and land-use planning, bicycling, green infrastructure.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is hard! I like all kinds of books. I'm reading Wonder Boys by Michael Chabon right now, and just finished The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri (read it!).

I like a lot of different kinds of music, particularly all sorts of folk music from contemporary singer-songwriter to New England fiddle music to Americana and spiritual music. I also like some indie music, classic rock, regular rock, goofy stuff...

I don't watch a whole lot of movies. You probably shouldn't try to talk to me about movies!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Glacier National Park in Montana for a whole month when I was 16. I didn't see a car or anything motorized (other than planes overhead) for 28 days. We hiked up a mountain in the dark starting at 3 am in order to be on a ridgetop for sunrise. Amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make delicious bread, identify plants in north/eastern north america (and guess wildly elsewhere!), I dunno, all sorts of things.
