About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To Discover and Learn!

ABOUT ME

I am currently a student at UTA, working on getting a masters degree in sociology. I first heard about couchsurfing a few years ago. I always thought this was a really cool idea and was interested in trying it out but never really got around to it since I have been so busy with work and school. Since I still have about a year or so left until graduation (thus non-stop reading, writing, and crying till then), I have decided to start a new research project on couchsurfing for my masters thesis, so now I will finally have a legitimate excuse to couchsurf! Thus killing 2 birds with 1 stone… (please note – Rory does not condone the killing of small animals, especially with hard and blunt objects like stones!)

Since I am still tethered to Fort Worth and can’t really travel across the world and experience the ideal couchsurfing experience, meeting and learning from people all over the globe. I am going to just have to do the next best thing… meet and surf with those participating in the DFW area and be able to experience this local flavor of couchsurfing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Recently I have been trying to go to as many local CS events as I can. Planning on taking a big trip once I get all my school stuff over with. Also looking forward to hosting soon!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Very little so far, but I hope to change that soon! ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

This is one of the more difficult questions on here...
When people tell me to list my "favorite" books, music, movies, etc. I just end up with a confused blank stare on my face, and cant make any kind of reasonable answer! I'm not too sure if I just like way too many things? or I have never witnessed anything epic enough to be considered my favorite? I hope its the former and not the latter, lol.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saw a huge ship run into an iceberg and then start to sink... everyone started panicking and one guy even jumped off the ship and got hit by one of the boats propellers, IT WAS BRUTAL! Luckily there was a rich girl who found a door to float on and avoided the icy waters, too bad she was an asshole and didn't let her loverboy stay on the door with her EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS CLEARLY ENOUGH ROOM FOR BOTH OF THEM TO FIT ON IT!!! Nonetheless, he died a horrible frozen death and she survived to be a really old woman who got to meet Bill Paxton.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm cool with teaching people, it's one of the things I want to do when I grow up! Teach and do research as a college professor, but I highly doubt you will want me to lecture you on sociology all day though, lol.

When it comes to "practical skills" like cooking, changing a tire, speeling, etc, I'm fairly incompetent :(
But when it comes to stuff like computers and other electronic devices I'm pretty knowledgeable, so if you are having computer problems or just want me to explain something to ya, I will do my best ;)
