ABOUT ME

I'm 24 years old and I'm currently living in Uppsala, where I'm doing a research placement at the university. I've spent the last six years living in my original hometown of Edinburgh for university and work, although I spent most of my childhood living in New Zealand and Wales. I'd say I'm a very laid back person and my general disposition is happy and open, I enjoy meeting new people and learning new things just as much as just having a few beers with friends and relaxing.

PHILOSOPHY

Try to do things that make you happy and try and be a good person so other people can be happy too. Pretty simple.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was lucky enough to go on a big trip when i was 22/23 and I used couchsurfing now and again to meet and stay with locals. I also managed to host a couple of times in Edinburgh once I came back, but sadly not as much as I would have liked.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had an excellent first experience in Turkey, such generosity combined with first hand insight into the culture. I've since surfed or met people in Bosnia, Estonia, Russia and South Korea, and also hosted a couple of times in Edinburgh.

Centres d'intérêt

Sports/outdoors, currently hiking a lot but used to play rugby and football as well as doing some running and swimming; science and especially most areas of biology; learning and teaching people about alcohol (whisky mainly); history; music; literature; travel (of course).

If I'm out something good to dance to (e.g. Parov Stelar), in work often something classical (Tchaikovsky, Chopin and Mozart would be my favourites).

Read a mix of popular science and fiction, all time favourites would be Catch 22, 1984, War and Peace and The Brothers Karamazov.

Spent my birthday running around on frozen Lake Baikal like a child, probably number one!

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

Can teach all about whisky and other spirits, which will of course include tasting if possible. If anybody also wants to know anything about evolution then that's the other thing which I know enough about to teach, although I imagine that's more niche!
