I’m Rosa. I’m Dutch, but lived in the UK for about 6 years and spent 2 years in Berlin too.

I'm on a big adventure together with my partner Kirk - we quit our jobs, said goodbye to our lovely houseshare in Bristol and hit the road about 9 months ago. We started in the Netherlands, hitchhiked our way to Marseille, got deported from Tunisia, spent many months in the Balkans chopping wood and fermenting cabbage, then went Greece and Türkiye, spent a few crazy months in India, and very soon (tomorrow) we'll be arriving in Thailand! We've never been to South East Asia and are extremely excited - especially since it took us 9 months to get here!

We do a lot of workaways while travelling, because we like to stay in one location for a while and really get to know the people in the place. We worked in a mountain hut, at a yoga retreat, hostels, built superadobe houses and helped at a Fukuoka inspired natural farm.

We also like hitchhiking, wild camping and mountain hiking. We travel by land where possible (but had to make a compromise twice because of contentious borders / civil unrest). Our way of travelling is not always easy and comfortable, but always adventurous. We believe in the contrast of travelling! Challenging times followed by some relative comfort really makes you reappreciate simple things like showers and clean clothes ✨

We’re very easy when it comes to places to sleep. We have sleeping bags, mats and a tent, so anything (also a patch of grass!) would do for us. 🏕 Mostly just looking for a friendly face, some nice chats and a shower. 🙃

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love having a genuine human exchange of chats and laughs. Opening your home to a stranger is one of the nicest things you can do! I really believe that if you do good without expecting anything back, good things will come your way ✨
I haven't been very active on here but have hosted lots on Bewelcome and Trustroots and have made so many amazing friends from all over the world. 🌈

Interests

Some things I like... DIY furniture building, crochet 🧶, hula hoop, coding, mushroom growing 🍄, general arts and crafts, music, hiking, camping, vegan cooking, plants.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiked through Eastern Europe for a month with my good friend Nina - a real low budget adventure of wild camping and hitchhiking and randomness.
Saying goodbye to the safety of home and job and starting my current adventure with my partner Kirk! 🌞

People always tell me I’m a very positive person, so if there’s anything I’d like to share it’s probably positivity and happy vibes. 🌞 I can also teach you some crochet or hula hoop, some Dutch, and it'd be great to exchange travel/hitchhiking/workaway experiences and just general tips for on the road :)
