Recently moved back to Peru after three years in the United States. I am now looking for a job where I can combine all my interests (archaeology, urban studies, heritage and historic conservation). I also teach and write.

To see new places through the eyes of the people who live there. Bonus points if you absolutely love the place where you live in. Some years ago I visited my sisters who were then living in Rome and Barcelona. I realized how much cooler it was to visit these cities as their homes, their neighbourhoods. It just felt so much safer and more comfortable.

At the moment, I am still just a surfer, since my current situation does not lend itself to hosting people. However, as time permits, I am always happy to show people around Lima. Double points if you would like to do so by bike. Triple points if little details about architecture just fascinate you.

I have never surfed yet, though I have hosted friends and family in the past. In my work as an archaeologist, I have spent time managing a "household" of archaeologists and archaeology students, making sure they all felt comfortable. A task which included knowing how often to replace the electric showers in the rental house when they inevitably broke because of insufficient current (once a month) and trying to keep the upstairs neighbour from throwing flowerpots at us when the students got too loud while watching soccer World Cup games.

I am an archaeologist of ancient and modern cities (studied archaeology and worked in it for ten years, now I am concentrating more on urban studies)
I like biking for leisure and travel. I once had a blue folding bike which travelled with me across many cities and commanded lots of attention (random people flirted with the bike....)
Exploring cities and walking until my feet turn to dust
Eating. Cooking. Food in general. Not spicy, though. Spicy is good if you are a dragon.
I should be travelling more!

My library is carefully organized into history, archaeology, graphic novels and comic books, and lately, books on cities and architecture! I am currently reading a book on the history of the american interstate highway system, and a book on the Bauhaus is next on the list. Also currently binge-watching Doctor Who on Netflix, with Sherlock being next. I also like documentaries.

- I think I have spent entirely too much time drawing very old skeletons, and wondering about the lives these people had (I am an archaeologist)
- A few years ago, I was directing an archaeological project in northern Peru. I left my excavation unit for a few minutes and when I came back there was a lost calf in the unit. I had to find the shepherd so he could retrieve this baby cow.....
- I once had a summer research job where the perks included endless ice-cream sandwiches, a swimming pool in a Tuscan-style courtyard, and all the fresh basil I could eat.

My cooking skills are limited, but I would be happy to share the things I can do well (see below). I am also always looking for opportunities to improve my partner-dancing skills, especially salsa.
An aunt who once hosted me at her DC home once told me "you are welcome here as long as you don't behave like a L.A.P - Latin American Princess". Wise words that I do my best to follow everywhere I go.
