ABOUT ME

I am a teacher who currently resides in Toronto - currently being the operative word. I was born and grew up in Toronto, went to boarding school in Italy, lived and volunteered in Ghana, went to grad school in Scotland, worked in Manchester for several years and am now heading off to South Korea to teach ! :) I love to explore and meet people from different cultures. Traveling is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer. My definition of traveling does not include all-inclusive one-week beach vacations. That is considered a vacation -- traveling in my books is a transformative experience.

I think I love traveling because I love learning from other cultures and understanding people. How people think and conduct themselves fascinates me and traveling is conducive for that.

PHILOSOPHY

I think my philosophy on life can be summed up in the following quotes (although trying to choose only a couple quotes was a feat in itself!):

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Recently, I've surfed more than I have hosted. I started out surfing in Europe. At the moment hosting is not possible for me, but I plan to in the future. I've donated money because I really believe in the CS ideals.
Most importantly, I spread the word about Couchsurfing. I have been blown away by the kindness and generosity of strangers. The best form of advertising is word-of-mouth and I am eager to encourage others to share in the same experience.
