About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Being outside as much as possible, seeing the world, hearing live music, and hosting potlucks!
ABOUT ME
I graduated with an Ecology degree from the University of Georgia. I love being outside, hiking and going to parks. I also love speaking Spanish and traveling. I've lived in Ecuador and studied in Costa Rica, as well. I am currently getting 2 masters degrees from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. I want to work on environmental issues in local or state government once I graduate in December. I am easy to find in crowds, as I am super tall and redheaded. I often am told I'm the mothering type. If we were hanging out, I'd be the first to offer you a sip from my water bottle, Advil, or a bandaid. I like to be prepared! I am super affectionate, as well. People usually get used to it :) I love being around kids and providing childcare in general. I enjoy dancing, reading, and just being outside!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I agree with Couchsurfing's mission--that traveling shouldn't be prohibitively expensive. I want to see the world on a budget and meet open, interesting people along the way! It's time to give back and host. My partner Fernando and I will be glad to offer you our couch in our very tiny 1 bedroom apartment, as long as it works with our class and work schedules.
Interests
I enjoy cooking, taking walks, and doing yoga. I still write letters (love snail mail) and keep in touch with far-flung friends. Bike-riding casually always makes me happy. I also love learning more about science, the environment in particular. Spanish is my foreign language of choice--I love how fluid and eloquent it is! And any day I can be outside, working with plants or exploring the landscape, is a good day.

Music, Movies, and Books
Folk music is what I put on to cook or drive. I like to dance to blues, rock, and bluegrass. I inevitably end up analyzing the lyrics to songs which endears them to me more. I recently have fallen in love with Hayao Miyazaki's films like Paprika, Princess Mononoke, and Howl's Moving Castle. Poetry always intrigues me, as well as science fiction. My favorite author is Sheri S. Tepper with her blend of environmentalism, cultural critique, and sci-fi.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My hearing being drowned out by the thundering of a waterfall near Monte Verde, Costa Rica. Anytime I get a good look at the stars on a clear night, especially over water. Seeing my love in a crowd of people waiting to pick up passengers at the airport after 9 long months.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm currently working for Ohio State as a student instructional assistant and job hunting for post-graduation! I live in awe of natural systems as well.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would like to cook with you! If you want to practice Spanish, learn some, or just chat about what's going on in the country, the world, your life, I'd love to.
