About Me

CURRENT MISSION

the constant quest for another good book

ABOUT ME

I am active and love to explore and ramble through new places. I had the great privilege of growing up in Alaska and deeply appreciate the outdoors, wild places and the opportunity to enjoy some sunny weather :)

PHILOSOPHY

Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I first signed up for couchsurfing I didn't really get engaged with the site, but this year have been thinking more about the value of helping and meeting people all over the world. I'm hoping to take this global interaction to a new level.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have done couchsurfing informally as an Alaskan with many friends or friends of friends who need a place to crash while traveling through. I have had similar experiences while traveling myself and the kindness of strangers and the value of meeting wonderful people from different places never ceases to amaze and humble me.

Interests

Ultimate frisbee, fat tire biking, books, hiking, sundresses, teaching, Game of Thrones, bluegrass-folk bands, wearing silly outfits, dancing (especially to live music), cross-country skiing, kayaking/canoeing, photography, traveling and so much more!

Music, Movies, and Books

I LOVE to read, it is one of my favorite things to do. One of my favorite genres is young adult fiction, particularly sci-fi and fantasy, but I also enjoy classic literature and my favorite book of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. When it comes to music I am all over the map and generally let my mood take me. Particular artists I have been listening to are Gin Wigmore and Josh Ritter. I also love classic 50s-60s music, 80s party music and 90s throwbacks. For movies and tv shows I often prefer crime dramas, good comedies (bobs' burgers and parks & recreation) and the occasional musical.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When my sister and I were in high school we visited Prudhoe Bay and swam in the Arctic Ocean, which was 31 degrees and felt like fire. It was an amazing experience to share with her.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my dorky knowledge of young adult fiction and my knowledge of many Alaskan pursuits. There are many amazing places to explore in Alaska and i'd love to share them with people. I also do a lot of sports- fat tire biking, cross country skiing, kayaking, and would be happy to introduce people to something new.
